I know, four business men have bought the club in 1997. But before, it was financially supported by the trade unions. That fact does naturally bring a connection that survives the decades.

The history of a football club is an important part of it. For example, many decades ago, the Grasshopper Club Zürich, our local rival, forbade the jews to become a member of it. Still today, no single jew in Zurich would even think about supporting the Grasshoppers, although the mentioned rule has been abolished many decades ago.

nachdem im alten Forum wirklich nichts mehr lief und meine Motivation, dem Alltag nachzugehen stündlich sinkt, habe ich mich entschieden, mich doch noch hier anzumelden.

@Flo: So leid es mir auch tut, aber Du liegst völlig falsch. Nicht nur gibt es viele, die GC unterstützen und sogar dessen Mitglied sind, sondern sie passen auch noch bestens zum GC-Family-Stereotyp... ;)

This is really a shame in the history of our club. I don't like how you want to mix this up with the mentality of the club though. This disgrace was influenced by few people who were the heads of the club at this time. For the rest of the history there was never any discrimination of jews or other. Why always drag Grasshopper-Club Zürich through the mud with this, whenever it's possible?

At the same time you support a Football Association (Avatar) that has not exactly covered itself in glory on this issue.

Ja, wir scheinen tatsächlich in Zeiten der neuen Unübersichtlichkeit zu leben, wie das von gewissen Zeitgenossen so schön ausgedrückt wird. Es gibt Dinge, die verstehe ich nie. Oder vielleicht will ich sie einfach nicht verstehen, kann auch sein.

Oh yes, it is. But overall, I think that Germany knows about its historical responsibility, and I believe it takes it. In my opinion, the German dealings with its own dark history are exemplarly. Naturally, you always find blurs, but the over-all-performance of the German behaviour since 1945 deserves respect.

Langsam können wir diesen Thread in den big time-Smalltalk verschieben... Von Keita ausgehend landen wir beim Vergleich zwischen der Politik GCs und den Gräueln des NS-Regimes. Interessant.

Im Herbst der letzten Champions League-Saison prangte in München (glaubs gg. La Coruña) auf rotem Grund über die ganze Bayern-Kurve ein Schriftzug mit den weissen Lettern S-I-E-G.
Wenn ich daran denke und an die Republikanermärsche, dann ist der Zustand vielleicht doch nicht ganz so "exemplarly"...[/quote]
