Few travellers visit Slovenia's largest province, which occupies much of eastern Slovenia. The main attractions in Štajerska are
Maribor, Slovenia's second-largest city, and Ptuj, one of its oldest towns.
Maribor
Slovenia's second largest city is a small and attractive place that features a charming and well preserved old town. For centuries Maribor has been the centre of Slovenia's wine trade and the surrounding region is covered with vineyards. It is a pleasant city and it's a great place to experience Slovene life, but not many backpackers visit Maribor.
