Norwegian Club Return From Off Season To Find New Road Built Over Their Home Pitch Without Their Knowledge
Spare a thought for Norwegian regional side Ny Krohnborg IL, who returned for the start of the season only to find that their local council had given the go-ahead for a new road to be laid which cuts into the corner of their pitch without telling the club.
The supply road connects a bypass with the new Krohn Minde psychiatric hospital on the campus of Helse Bergen University, which has been built right next to Krohnborg’s home pitch, with one particular corner of the freshly-laid asphalt impinging on the touchline quite severely.
Krohnborg chairman Radney Thomsen told BA:
“We were quite shocked when we discovered that the road cut [into the pitch]. The start of the season is just around the corner, but no-one had informed us. We feel simply run over.
“It’s downright scary that the various sports clubs that use the pitch have not been told. They have “forgotten” to give notice for the second time in three years. This is not good enough.”
The managing director of the local sports council, Roar Andersen, was also understandably upset:
“How can they go ahead with cutting path without informing us? There are several teams that have league matches here. I thought everyone agreed that the road shouldn’t be this shape.”
Just when you think you’ve made a home for yourself, the local council go and move the goalposts – quite literally!
